Der Termin für Crossroads 2013 steht fest: das Festival wird vom 5. bis 16. Juni stattfinden.

Wir sind seit mehreren Monaten am sichten zahlreicher Filme, haben bereits einige sehr inspirierende gesehen und freuen uns schon sehr darauf, euch im Juni eine Auswahl von etwa 30 zeigen zu können. : )

Empfehlung: Filme kostenfrei online sehen

Viele empfehlenswerte aktuelle Filme (darunter einige, die auch im Rahmen von Crossroads 2012 gezeigt wurden) können mittlerweile kostenlos online angesehen werden. Hier einige Empfehlungen:

Just Do It – A Tale of Modern Day Outlaws (UK/2011)
Emily James’ inspirierender Film über junge kreative Klimaaktivist*innen, die mit viel Courage, Elan und Risikobereitschaft für eine sozial-ökologische Wende und globale Gerechtigkeit kämpfen.

The Crisis of Civilization (UK/2011)
Dean Puckett’s künstlerisch ansprechende, spannende Doku über die aktuelle multiple Krise und mögliche Auswege.

When The Water Ends: Africa’s Climate Conflicts (US/2010)
In Kenia und Äthiopien kämpfen verschiedene Stämme um die schwindenden Wasservorkommen. Sie gehören zu den ersten Opfern des Klimawandels. Evan Abramson dokumentierte die dortige Entwicklungen.

Green (2009)
Multiple-award-winning documentary about the relentless destruction of forests, biodiversity and livelihoods for palm oil production. Green is the name of the film’s protagonist – a female Orang Utan. A must see!

Killing Fields – the battle to feed factory farms (2009)
A hidden chain of destruction stretches from the factory farms in Europe to the forests of South America – where huge soy plantations, grown to feed chickens, cows and pigs in Europe, are wiping out wildlife and making climate change worse.

A Darker Shade of Green: REDD Alert and the Future of Forests (2012)
As policies and programs to Reduce Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD) are promoted around the world by global and national elites, Indigenous Peoples and forest-dependent communities are raising the alarm that these programs will have serious negative impacts and will not reduce emissions. This documentary introduces the many concerns about REDD from the perspective of the people who are most impacted.

Crossroads wants to inspire action…and you’re warmly invited to already start during the festival! :)

You can bring homemade food along to the Potluck Brunch, you can design and contribute your own workshops and discussion events and you can exchange seeds, seedlings and gardening skills. Find more detailed info below.

SATURDAY MAY 26th:
10:00-12:00 Potluck Brunch
Everybody brings along one vegan dish so that we can all enjoy a variety of nice food together.

SUNDAY MAY 27th:
10:00-18:00 Get Active!
Do it yourself. Design and contribute workshops and discussion events! To book a room please get in touch by Email, or use the board at the cinema room at the ground floor of Forum Stadtpark.

15:00-18:00 Seeds and Seedling Sharing
Share and exchange seeds, seedlings, gardening tools, skills and good ideas.

European premieres!

Verónica Moscoso’s A Wild Idea (Ecuador/USA, 2011) and Gary Marcuse’s Waking the Green Tiger (Canada, 2011) will have their European premieres at Crossroads!

Both films portrait groundbreaking developments. There’s a lot at stake and if the Ecuadorian and Chinese protagonists will succeed, our futures might look a bit brighter.

A Wild Idea: Saturday May 26th 19:30
Waking the Green Tiger: Tuesday May 22nd 21:00

ps: The European premiere of A Fierce Green Fire was moved to Sheffield Doc/Fest. It was a last minute wish of the film’s distribution company. We’ll still show the film – as a sneak preview at Sunday May 20th 20:00.
